Columbia has the best system for moving traffic around the city.

Greenville would greatly benefit from a spur and/or loop that would connect US-25 north of Travelers Rest into I-85 either east or west of Greenville.

I don't think we really need to build new spurs but there are several cities that would benefit from some type of loop around the city.

526 needs to be expanded. Especially the section from the port to 26.

Making 521 from Charlotte to Georgetown 4 lane would be a huge draw for development for Lancaster, Camden, Sumter, Manning. There are several sections already complete but still a lot of 2 lane left.

Sumter could use a spur from I20. Traffic from Sumter/Shaw to Camden then Cola via 521 gets pretty heavy in the morning and afternoon rush. 521 south from Sumter to I95 already has a spur feel since it feeds directly to Sumter's industrial area.

I think the problem with a spur from 77 would be all the swampy areas, though I think it’d help bridge the development and lead more quickly to the at this point inevitable Columbia-Sumter Metro Area. But yes, Sumter needs a spur the most imo because it needs to “spur†development the most. (Sorry, couldn’t help myself.)

I also think a spur of 26 starting in Camden and ending in Wagner would be great. It could be I-326. And would connect a lot of the smaller regions throughout those areas. It could be arch shaped.

I think just continuing I-16 as a raised interstate onto the bridge and crossing into sc running parallel with I-95 and the turning west towards Bluffton and Hilton Head and then north again with lots of bridges into Beaufort and ending there would be a good idea too. But the City of Savannah would raise epic hell over it. Or just make a loop from 95.

If Interstate 16 is to be extended into South Carolina, extend it to Charleston.

Another idea is extending an existing interstate highway across southern South Carolina and terminating in Bluffton or at Interstate 95.

Only other one is 26.

How about extending Interstate 77 from Interstate 26 in Cayce to Bluffton?
