Actually, better-educated people attend church (and participate in other organizations) much more than less-educated people. This is true in SC as well.

Maybe better-educated people don’t wear Jesus on their sleeve as much as others, but being educated means being more likely to be a regular church attendee.

They hate us cause they ain't us....lol

People have to hate something or someplace else ..it's human nature. I posted a link to an online survey in below that showed which state that each state residents hate . SC was hated mainly by NC which is understandable ..SC residents hated of all places Michigan ...the survey doesn't give reasons but I suspect it is related to tourists and maybe transplants .. California had the most hates if I recall correctly. NJ hated everybody GA hated Florida and Florida hated itself lol

If I read it correctly, Michigan and South Carolina BOTH hate Ohio. Goes with all the Ohio jokes. Lol

Maybe you shouldn't misuse an apostrophe when talking about how uneducated Southerners are.

Do you ever notice any of this? Would you say it's TRUE or blown out of proportion? Thanks
There's not a lot of hate given the population growth, tourism, and popularity of SC colleges with out of state students

The haters are typically motivated by their politics and tend to demonize people as racist, homophobes, etc if they don't have the same views.

NC likes to look down on SC (more so in the past than present) but I don't get the Michigan hate from SC'ers. I can see why SC would "hate" Ohio though since a large contingent of transplants come from there these days.

I would say the new residents have tended to make differences in SC. Its just they have been more diverse types of Republican as opposed to the notion that everyone form the north or Midwest were liberal Democrats. Greenville captured a lot of business and social conservatives. Myrtle Beach had a lot of conservative Northerners move there. The Beaufort/Hilton Head area tended to get more of the libertarian and military conservatives. And the Charleston area sees a lot of conservatives with military and some libertarian leanings.

Charleston has also seen a lot more moderate and liberal transplants in recent years. I think the Rock Hill/Charlotte overflow counties will be in a similar vein in another 4-5 years.

Maybe just a side effect of reading posts on a forum rather than being able to have a face to face discussion but there seems to be a lot of stereotyping in this post.

THIS is the reason many natives dislikes outsiders like yourself. To you, your comment is innocuous; no ill will intended, just you being you.

But words matter, to include phrasing. Who are you to render the judgement above? Even if your comment was 100% accurate, as an outsider, it's not your place to make it. Know your audience.

I can agree with this. Although SC isn't undergoing any dramatic political shifts as it grows, its politics are moderating a bit and I think much of this has to do with the fact that you don't have the urban-liberal/suburban-rural-conservative dynamic in SC that plays out in neighboring states like NC and GA with their largest cities engaging in public showdowns with their state legislatures. SC and TN are somewhat alike in this regard.
