How bad is the pollen in the Hilton Head to Charleston area? How bad is the allergy problem there? I have a terrible allergy to tree pollen and would hate to even visit if I was going to be all stuffed up. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
My friend said he was fine, but he did have friends who had allergies from the pollen there.
February and March produces a heavy pollen that coats everything with a green film (referred to as a pollen cloud). A lot of people react to it, but the worst allergies are typically from what you cannot see vs. what you can see.
I suffered from horrible allergies when I first moved here from Arizona and it lasted a couple of years, almost to the point of feeling like I had a perpetual cold. Now I rarely suffer and only react if I cut the grass.
I have bad allergies and have lived here all my life. Im only 23 . A lot of the people I work with are from up north, wisconsin, new york , and philadelphia and all of them have terrible allergies now that they have moved here. What I have been doing to alleviate some of my problems are to use a neti-pot and to take an "allergy" pill. It has really helped.
The pollen is very bad here so you must stay inside , but that is good brcause a trip outside just gets you eaten alive by insects .The Marine Corp didn't put their boot camp here by accident , it was to toughen up the marines with heat , humidity , and sand .Before you spend a lot of money to move here , why not just join the marines and get paid to sample beaufort.
Thank...pity that this is such a big negative on such an interesting area.
When you find a place without any vegetation you will likely not suffer any allergies. Good luck with that. Whether they bother you in the midwest or not, there too is vegetation up there and it does produce allergens that lots of people are bothered by. If you come down here after all the plants (trees, grasses, weeds) have sprouted for the year the pollen shouldn't bother you as much. Can you imagine living in a place with no vegetation at all? I can't! As the trees grow bigger, they produce more and more pollen. As I said, good luck avoiding it anywhere!
