Hi Folks

Can anyone tell me if there is a lake within a reasonable driving distance from Hot Springs that is good for boating and water sports? How about fishing in the Hot Springs area?
Thanks in advance.

I think Angostora (sp?) near Hot Springs is good, otherwise there are several other lakes within a couple hours of Hot Springs.

Angostura dam is the best fishing, water sports and all that place to gather. The state park is really nice. A lot of Rapid city folks spend weekends playing there. But it has never been over crowed in any of my adventures there.

I had one of the worst sun burns from playing on Angostura. It was a lesson learned but it is a great place to play.

Default Angostura

We just spent the last two and a half days at Angostura camping, kayaking and fishing. Great place for outdoor adventures. If you like hiking I recommend walking the disc golf course. Its really nice.

There are a good number of other lakes nearby, but most are smaller more secluded and don't allow motor sports, so yup angostura will be your best bet.
