Hi! I have some photos that were taken by my grandfather July 4, 1935 of some people in Native American dress. He wrote on the back that they were Madin ( possibly a mispelling ).

Can any of you tell me where I can find out more about the Mandin Indians?

Is there a Museum or Historical Society in that area that would know the history behind these people. I have looked on the internet and most of what I've found has been general info and history of their origins but nothing on them as late of a date as 1935. I'm not sure that there were any full blood Mandins alive in 1935, so that is what I'm trying to find out.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sharlotte

Thank you all for all your help. I contacted the MHA Nation by email about some photos that I can email to them. Hope to hear back from them.

Might also want to check with United Sioux Tribes and the State Cultural Heritage center in Pierre. The might have some book suggestions and some information about gathering history.
