Is there anyone here that is from the western part of the state? We just spent the past few days out there and it's so beautiful. We couldn't believe how dry it was out there though. The beautiful green hills are just brown. But it did end up raining there for three days and it had to help with some of the fire danger. It was chilly and I was surprised at how much the nights cooled down. I realize that's normal, but it just felt so much chillier then normal. It's probably just me since I'm getting attached to warm weather in my middle age.

We went to Deadwood's Kool Summer nights and it was definitely a hit. There were over 10,000 people there Fri. night and more then that Sat. night. The concerts were awesome. We have friends from NJ who came out to spend time with us in the Hills. They had never been out there before and thought Mt. Rushmore was awesome. They also liked some of the more rustic things like Deadwood's older buildings. Spearfish Canyon was breathtakingly beautiful, as always. It's just such a nice place to visit.

YES!!! Awesome is exactly what SD is. It's so different from NJ. It's clean, the people are friendly, it's clean, the scenery breathtaking, it's clean, the openess is amazing. Did I remember to say how neat & clean this state is? LOL Deadwood's Kool Summer Nights were fantastic to say the least. But best of all were our personal "tour guides"---our friends from the Eastern part of SD. Spearfish Canyon was a "most favorite". This is a place you'd want to visit many times over.

Becky, I'm so glad that you enjoyed your visit to So. Dak. Did you say that it's clean out there? I hope you get the chance to visit our state in the near future.
