Have the Black hills started changing leaf colors yet? I plan on being out there the first weekend in October so I'm almost positive they'll be changed by then but just curious if they had yet......
A little bit but not much. Just the occasional yellow branch on a tree here and there. We don't hit our peak colors until about late September and early October. Make sure you visit Spearfish Canyon when you come out!

YES!! That's a beautiful area. And take pics for us.
Oh yeah I definitely will.....we're coming out for the Black Hills State/Dakota State football game and staying in Spearfish. I love Spearfish Canyon, I remember when I used to live in Deadwood we'd always drive through there every fall and spring.
Oh by the way, does anyone know what they do with the buffalo at Custer State Park after the Roundup? Are they still around the wildlife loop road?

I"m going to out on a limb and say yes they will still be around the wildlife loop. As I understand it, the round up gathers them all up for yearly vaccinations, health check ups, and some are shipped to other areas of the country and traded out to keep the blood lines pure and minimize the impact of inbreeding. So essentially, the round up is just a temporary thing and the Buffalo are turned back loose once they are all sorted out.
Aww, my hometown is Pierre but I've been living in Denver since December, and after seeing your picture of the Capitol at Christmas, I'm feeling even more homesick.
I get to make a trip home in a couple weeks though. So hopefully I can make it that much longer.
Just east of Wall. Off of Highway 14 north side of the road.
