They make warm clothing & boots for toddlers, too. Honestly, if it's to cold for parents to be outside for an extended period of time, it's to cold for kids.......my experience has always been that the little ones are better dressed for cold, than the adults(me).

Thanks for the Sarcasm but still doesnt answer my question. Are there Play gyms or indoor play spaces for the little ones. Im sure the snow gets boring after awhile for them.

Sorry. I've always lived in rural areas. Give me a few minutes (and another cup of coffee) and I'll probably (maybe) have a few winter road trip ideas.......the toddler years flew by pretty fast, as a parent. And even faster, as a grandparent.

Im from NYC and considering a move to Sioux Falls. I know Im not going to get the same access to "EVERYTHING" like NYC but I would like know there are things to do. Im nervous about the winter and how I will be able to handle it with two little ones. Someone told me it gets 20-below sometimes and that scares the hell out of me.

In the winter time I spent hours sledding in the front yard. Or I'd climb the steep hills for more of an adventure. Better yes, dad would hook an old truck hood up behind a pickup and out into the pasture we'd go. We even went skating on a stock dam.

There were only a handful of times that I recall it being too cold out to play.

As far as a kids gym or anything like that, **** that. Head outside and have fun. As an older person it it fun to watch the little ones head out and have all sorts of fun. Playing outside were some of the best childhood memories I possess.

What ages are your little ones?
It does get that cold here, at times. But "normally" it doesn't last for more than a week, before it warms up, to a more tolerable temp....
People tend to hibernate, when it gets frigid cold.
There used to be a pay play center, in the Sioux Empire Mall... Menards (in Mitchell) has a small play area, for customers.
If I remember correctly, one of my Sioux Falls friends took her children to winter swimming lessons........
You can usually field trip to the library, or a movie....
Brookings has a Children's Museum, that is worth a road trip....
