Hi All,
After living in the PNWet for the last 30 some years we are looking to move back to the BH.
We would like to live on or near a river lake or creek on at least a couple of acres. I love Spearfish and Boulder Canyon. Any ideas of where to look?
Would like to stay in the vicinity of Sturgis, Spearfish, Lead, Deadwood area.
My son is planning to move his family too, he works as a heavy equipment operator. How is the job market for that?
Thanks for all your help. I can't wait to move home.
Linda

Hey Linda! Welcome back to the Black Hills!
You're actually in luck. There are a few residential developments in Boulder Canyon that seem very appealing. There is Apple Springs which is built on a golf course and I believe that Kevin Costner is building around 1,400 homes in that general area too. It is very beautiful up there!

In Spearfish, there is Sandstone, which is a very nice development, and then there is another nice one if you drive past the Mercantile Mall.

How long have you been away?

Hi Thistle, welcome to the Hills and welcome to the forum, too!

Like Danny said, there should be plenty of employment opportunities for your son. If you scan through a few posts on the forum, you'll see that the Hills are on the cusp of a boom. Homestake got the science lab that they've been hoping for. Ellsworth is in the process of hiring for over 700 civilian and non-civilian jobs. Naturally, there's be a lot more need for construction and just everything around. Your family will do fine there.

I have been here in Washington for the last 30 or so years. Visiting your area every decade or so. We were there last summer and it just felt like the right place to be. I was born in Deadwood about a bazillion years ago and we lived on a ranch out on the Bench until my dad got a job at Boeing, sold the ranch and moved us to WA. I've always loved coming back to SD. Now the opportunity for a permanent move back just may be in the making. Thank-you for your kind replies. Looking forward to picking your brains for awhile.
Linda
