Snowing has stopped in Hot Springs. Dopplar Radar says it is all done, but the clouds are still hanging low on Battle Mountain. I am sure there are patches of ice on the roads. We had about 3 and a half inches of wet white stuff on my pation.

Default Blizzard Warning, from Lemon down to Parade and East to the state line, 12-8-12

Urgent - winter weather message
national weather service aberdeen sd
1202 pm cst sat dec 8 2012

...a strong storm will impact the region this afternoon through
sunday...

.a strong storm system will move into the northern plains this
afternoon. As the low tracks toward the region it will pull warm
moist air into the system and heavy snow will develop across
north central and northeast south dakota as well as west central
minnesota. As the low tracks eastward later evening and early
sunday morning strong north to northwest winds will move into the
region. These winds combined with light snowfall will create
blizzard conditions.

...blizzard warning remains in effect from midnight cst /11 pm
mst/ tonight to 6 am cst /5 am mst/ sunday...

* timing...snow will develop this afternoon and evening with light
snow continuing into sunday.

* winds/visibility...15 to 20 mph southeast winds will persist
through late afternoon. Winds will then switch to the northwest
and increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph possible
through sunday morning. Strong winds combined with snowfall will
reduce visibility to near zero at times.

* snow accumulations...total snow accumulations will range from
2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts possible.

* other impacts...travel may become hazardous due to slick roads
and reduced visibilities. Very cold air will also move into
the region on sunday...with wind chill values falling into the
teens and twenties below zero.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A blizzard warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions...making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel...have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded...stay with your vehicle.

Default Winter Weather Advisory, from Vayland, East, 12-8-12

Urgent - winter weather message
national weather service sioux falls sd
1029 am cst sat dec 8 2012

.a quick moving but potent storm system will move across the
northern plains this weekend. This system will spread snow into
eastern south dakota and western minnesota this afternoon and
evening. The current track of the low pressure area may allow
snowfall along highway 14 to diminish late tonight...limiting
snowfall somewhat. However... Areas of light snow will move back into
the area sunday as the system moves off to the east. Breezy south
winds will accompany the first wave of snowfall through
tonight...though this snow will be on the wet side...so any blowing
snow threat should be limited to when the snow is falling. Snowfall
on sunday will be lighter and drier in nature... And will also be
accompanied by stronger northwest winds. This will bring an increased
threat of blowing snow through the day sunday.

weather advisory for snow and blowing snow...which is in effect from
3 pm this afternoon to 6 pm cst sunday.

Causing areas of blowing snow.

* accumulations...total snow accumulations of 3 to 4 inches are
anticipated through sunday afternoon.

* wind and visibility...southerly winds of 15 to 25 mph will
accompany the snowfall during the late afternoon and evening.
Winds will diminish late tonight...then increase to 20 to 35
mph from the northwest sunday. Visibility less than a mile is
