There isn't any shortage in Sioux Falls, but there is in some parts of the state. Sioux Falls has a glut even though there are new RN openings all the time due to the health care expansion of the community. Almost every college in the area has an RN nursing program with several such as USF, National College and Southeast Tech being new within the last few years. Also, USD is expanding to a BSN program which does make sense since most all of the other medical programs are down there.
PAY in Sioux Falls and SD in general is way below most of the country. My daughter who is a Phys. Therapist (and I'm sure nursing mirrors this to some degree) moved 400 miles away and makes almost $ 20,000 more than what she would be paid in Sioux Falls.
