Due to my relationship, I am considering moving to Rapid City from Pittsburgh, PA. I'd rather stay here, but might not he able to. I'm only 21, but would like to get into an apprecticeship with the local electrician's union in Rapid City. I love the PA hills and environment here, and drove through SD once and found it very pretty. I guess I'm just asking if electricians are in high demand there, andnalso would I fit in. I'm a big hunter and fisherman. Also love mountain biking, skiing, and all that stuff. Some of the hills in SD also remind me of the rolling PA hills.
Yes, there is a decent apprentice program for electricians. If you're into hunting, fishing, and mountain biking you will do very well here. The only caveat I'll offer, have a plan in place. Have a job or solid lead on a job before making the leap. There are jobs to be had, but they are no abundant.
A question I have about the hunting there, is it more of an individual sport there? In PA we do drives for deer in parties of up to twenty people, and enjoy the group atmosphere. Is doing deer drives popular there?

Out my back door its usually 20-40 deer verses me...
Need a tag to take one into town for processing but I could take all I want in the back yard if I could stomach the butchering...

You get more of that kind of hunting East River, but you will see a buddy or three hunt together in the hills. The environment is less conducive to that kind of hunt up here.
