According to this study, Rapid City SD has the most unpredictable weather in the US

Looking at the map, SD overall has some pretty exciting weather but you already knew that

When I was a kid growing up in Syracuse, NY I would hear every winter about how "unpredictable" the weather was every time it would throw down a foot, or a few feet of snow. No, actually quite predictable for that area. Thus far, Michigan has been my most unpredictable weather state.

Still, I will take my somewhat-exciting weather here than the predictable weather out on the West Coast.

Oh, here's the study :

We're coated in ice this morning. I chickened out of going out to open up for the barn cats - will have to try again later today. It's easier to walk in snow than on ice.

Cool, SNOW ROLLERS near Deadwood! I've never heard of or seen these before! (If pic doesn't load, it's on the SDPB website: Snow Rollers on Mt. Roosevelt Road. | SDPB )

I've heard of these but have never seen them. Thanks for sharing. And I have to say it's nice to see the other Dakota getting some cold weather right now.

As a state, we're going to be in fat city when it comes to spring planting with our moisture AND nitrogen content. Even the city folk are going to feel like they're lawn care gods when the flowers and grass start growing.
