They wouldn't be so bad in eastern SD if we can just build a wall on the Minnesota border.

But what about all the mosquitoes who will sneak under the wall or fly over it?
And what about all the ones that are coming in by way of Iowa?
Even if we spend billions building a wall made of solid screen and electric bug zappers, spray it with deet, and build it up all the way to the clouds, those that want in will find a way.
They just can't stop wanting our nice rich red South Dakotan blood.
Can you blame them?
This is what I look like when I go outside now (more or less):

I think you are over-dramatizing the problem. We can build a wall around Iowa too although we may have to negotiate with Nebraska. Mosquitoes DO NOT burrow thru the ground so they are unlikely to go underneath a well constructed wall. I do not know how high a mosquitoe can fly, but your idea of bug zappers could work if they are of lightening calibre. I think it is a good idea.

The mosquito is the Minnesota state bird. I'm thinking that they'll want to keep all of them. We can probably get them to pay for the wall.

I have a new idea, which may be less expensive than a wall.
We could put a row of wind machines all along our borders, and blow the suckers back into Minnesota and Iowa where they belong.
We'd have to put barges in the middle of the Big Sioux and Missouri rivers and put the wind machines on the barges, but I think this could work!
Alternatively, we could put in an order with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls for NO MORE RAIN Summer 2018!!!!!!!!!! (Clouds are gathering and thunder is rumbling even as I type this. )

See what can be accomplished when great minds are put on task.
The possibilities are endless.

Hmmmm? We already have prevailing westerly winds that do not seem to help. Those wind machines may not be the best way to go. Asking the weather service for no more rain might work. Does anyone know where to send the request? Is there a special form to fill out?
