We are considering retiring in SD and currently living in a state prone to flooding. I notice a river/creek runs through hot springs and am wondering if it overflows?

That would be rare. Flash floods can probably occur in some low lying spots, but drought & wild fires are more of a problem. This is a dry climate in hilly terrain.
