There are those pop machines I have seen at Wal-Mart that you pay with your credit card. I have seen those either in the MPLS-St. Paul airport or St. Louis airport two years ago.

For those of you that were FOR this bailout, Get ready for more troubles, I knew this was gonna happen. All that bailout bullcrap is spilling over to the world trade economies now, no one wants to trust any credit now. Get ready for the Depression they said wasn't gonna happen, if Raw Goods aren't being shipped or bought, then no one is making or selling anything.

Grain shipments stalled in credit drought (http://www.financialpost.com/story.html?id=866310 - broken link)

Well, that's definitely not very good news for the Midwest, is it? I dunno. I never saw throwing money at a problem as being a good solution. Just not always sure what the higher-ups are thinking sometimes.

That's too bad. I guess it's just a chain reaction that's leading into a deep recession. I was at the mall today for Black Friday and it wasn't nearly as crowded as it has been in the past. Sure, Target has moved out and Rushmore Crossing had some handsome sales, but still it wasn't busy as far as Black Friday goes.

I think people still have a few dollars stashed away, but are fearful of spending too much right now. Even though there doesn't seem to be anyone on our forum who went through the dirty 30s, the late 70s/early 80s weren't that good for us here and in a lot of the country. We're all maybe a bit leary of having one family member losing their job through lay-offs or things like that so we are trying to keep our piggy banks full.

Both my parents were born in the 30s. They have some vague memories of the great depression and dirty 30s. My grandparents (all deceased) lived through it. They didn't waste much and did not throw out much.

Same here. My grandma's family farmed down by Winner during the 30s and they had nothing. Their floors were dirt and they never even dreamed of asking for anything. They made their own clothes and only had a few outfits that lasted them years. I used to get so mad at my grandma when I was little because she would pile food on my plate and if I didn't eat it all she would throw a fit and call me wasteful. Their generation just didn't waste anything.

And this Generation is just the opposite, Waste it All is the new slogan of today. Sad but true unfortunately. If it gets as bad as the 30's I wonder how many stupid people will not make it. Stupid people as in those with no common sense and believe that corn grows on a Grocery Store shelf. And thats not as far fetched as ya think, I know and have known several people that believe that way. Truly Truly Sad.
