I have been watching the weather in South Dakota. Is this a normal winter so far?

//www.city-data.com/forum/weather/

For my area, it's been fairly average. It's just hard to say around here. We can have several feet of snow on the ground by now some years and other years just have a few inches on the ground.

If you wanna check out the link above, you can see that sometimes we're well above average and sometimes we're well below average. You may want to check out the two threads~What was your High for Today AND What was your Low for Today. I post it a day behind. I also include our average high and low and also our record high and low.

Our actual lows have been a bit higher ~sometimes around the area of 10 degrees higher then the average. AND keep in mind that our lows don't reflect windchill. This morning when I posted on the thread about our current weather, the temp was 9 and the windchill made it feel like 9 below.

I know you're looking more at the western part of the state, but this will give you a bit of an idea since we generally get our weather from the Hills area. Sometimes not as much snow and sometimes not as warm, but it'll be close enough to give you an idea.

Kinda chilly now. Nothing to out of line. Drove about 250 miles on crappy roads Tuesday and Wednesday.

In the Black Hills region we had a big blizzard in October and that's pretty unusual but not necessarily out of the question. The high today is 19 and even though that's very low it's not completely impossible either. All in all, I'd say this is a pretty average winter with a few occasional glitches of odd weather.

Tomorrow it's supposed to be 45 degrees. That's probably more normal.

It was upper teens low 20s near Sioux Falls. A bit chilly, but at least we do not have a foot of snow on the ground and having subzero temps. This winter has been decent so far with a few minor expceptions.

In my area, in the northern half of Lincoln County, we have excess moisture and do not need a really snowy winter. The ground is damp and soggy at this point and definitely the case when corn and beans were harvested.

Wow! It's infectious! It's snowing like crazy in Seattle no less. What's even weirder is that it's snowing here on the coast -- much rarer.

Good morning Debey and everyone!!!

It's not a nice day. Right now it's minus 3 with a windchill of minus 30. They changed the windchill charts in 1992 (?) and previously it would've been closer to minus 40 windchill.

I hope everyone can stay safe and inside today. I need to dig out the snow shovel and do a bit of shoveling.
