I am also down sizing. I am no cook, but I would like to start. Ive been living on frozen burritos and top Roman for the last 2 years.
What i would like is a couple of receipts for "homemade" Chlli, one cooked in a crock pot and one on a stove top.
I really miss homemade chill.. I'm originally from NW Michigan. Chilli was a winter delight there. Almost every mother enterd their chilli at the Fair.
Most women/men have their own way of making it, and with South Dakota being a winter wonderland , I would love to hear how you make your chilli.
and yes..even you "Jammie"...
Thank You
Mike
Watch from above, my friend. RIP.

1 inch thick pork chop (Horseradish standing by)
Fried potato
Normandy blend veggies FROZEN.

Everything cooked in cast iron. No teflon crap in this cabin.

You know, it's almost a relief to eat frozen veggies again, after the last couple months of stuffing cucumbers and zuccini down my throat.

Pork chop dipped in milk and coated with brown wheat flour. One is for supper, the second one is going to be a sandwich tomorrow noon. With some lettuce from the garden, and sliced tomato from the garden, horseradish from the garden and cheese from the cheese factory at Velveeta, Ohiowa.

I have probably the best sandwich, for lunch, that I have had in years. That big porkchop was tender and juicy.

Last night, the slow cooker was loaded up with dry pinto beans, water, chopped onion. and some salt. Started it o. low about 7pm. This evening, it will be mashed down and made into refried beans. With the salsa I made yesterday, some tortias and cheese, burritos are on tonight's menu.

I didn't know that but the eggs look pretty good.

Tonight I am fixing chicken and rice soup for my sick daughter and beef stew for whoever wants it. I have a pan of dinner rolls plus a coffee cake baking in the oven. The house smells pretty darn good.
