Still, we have to be able to sign our paychecks and legal documents, don't we???
Really? Wow... Like you said, cursive needs to be taught I think... We spent a great deal of time on it... in multiple grades I think.

Jammie, I think I posted about the Larchwood, IA casino being built a while back...

Thanks MJ- Appreciate the support. Wish he was cursive literate, but guess we'll have to teach that at home, says a lot about our school system though huh??

I have mixed opinions on the tax. The government will tax you one way or another, whether it would be with a higher sales tax, property taxes, or even income taxes. At least, South Dakota does not have personal property taxes unlike some states.

I would rather have an income tax as opposed to a higher sales tax and I think that our property taxes are way too high. If we consider an income tax, it would be at 3-4% of income as opposed to 6-8% in a number of states. It is based on a person's ability to pay taxes. Yes, I know that a state income tax is not a popular idea in South Dakota.

My grandparents live in the general area where the new casino in Iowa is proposed. It would certainly bring dollars into Lyon County, IA, but will not be the big bad wolf that some conservative-minded people make it out to be. The casino will have a resort, golf course, meeting spaces, and a full-service restaurant. Plenty to do other than gambling. I would open to one opening in Sioux Falls, although it should be limited and one does not turn Sioux Falls into the Vegas of the Northern Plains where there is a casino on every other street corner.

I know times are tough for alot of people but come on now, 4 % to 6% raise in Sales tax. Thats 6 cents on the dollar not 60 cents on the dollar, 2 penny difference on the dollar. Versus a savings on Property Taxes that could be substantially lower with this proposal. I don't know what the property taxes are in Rapid, SF or what have ya but I am quite sure they are no where near the east or west coast taxes so I consider ourselves damn lucky in that case. A 35% decrease in property Taxes?? Sounds good to me. I mean hell for a country that revolted from so many taxes that the british was giving us, we sure do have alot of damn taxes now. Go figure.

And don't forget the Tax Me state (nebraska, well omaha in general lol), Wheel Tax (5 bucks per tire on your car, thats 25 bucks every year) Road tax, Grocery Tax, I'm alive tax, I'm Dead Tax, You inherited something tax, You didn't inherit something tax. You name it, they tax it.

What I can't figure out is why raise the Sales tax at all, They must finally be done taxing the hell out of smokers or what LOL. But I doubt it.

Homesteader, I don't know what kind of car you drive but most cars I think have only 4 tires therefore 20 dollars a year ......And I like this idea I just bought a house and if my property taxes were reduced that much I'd save about $850 a year.....thats quite a sizable savings but on the flip side you'd probably pay more for groceries and etc with the tax but income tax you don't really notice where as property taxes keep rising every year so its something that you have to be concerned with if you own a house.....

Can you actually classify that as a tire on most cars? isn't it just a mini cooper tire? That's retarded they charge you for a spare tire.....Politicians are pathetically corrupt.....
