It's been said before it's not real Mexican.
If you're in a rush and want food quick, then TJ is good. It's a fast food chain! Just like McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, etc...

And Qdoba and Chipotle are real Mexican???

If you want something a little more authentic than Taco John's try La Costa downtown or Kaktus Kim's at the Rushmore Mall. I'd say La Costa is more authentic because it's run by a family from Mexico.

But aren't Qdoba and Chipotle a ''sit down'' waiter/waitress type place??
Isn't that like comparing McDonalds to a steakhouse?

TJ's is ''fast food''.....

No, they don't have a window but one can get it to go. The line it fast. I've been to one in a big city and small and both are very fast.
I live in smaller town now so I can leave my car running while I pop-in and out.

No biggy the dude likes TK so yes SF has many establishments to offer. I was being negative but had bad day.

I was very amazed @ the amt. of places to eat, in Sioux Falls, when were down there, last week. I know I'll NEVER make it inside 95% of the food places, there.....unless I get to go to SF, on a weekly basis, for next 30 years!!!!

I love Taco John's. In some places in SD you can find TJ menu items that have been long gone in any other state (or other SD TJs) - for instance, I found my personal favorite, the Sierra Chicken (it's like a chalupa with a chicken breast inside, sauces, etc.) just a few years back in SD - I can't remember which one I found it at, but I feel like it was around the Ft. Randall casino area.

I discovered a Taco John's close by in an inner suburb of Minneapolis not too long ago. I got so excited when I went to order that I first asked for a Sierra Chicken and then a Chicken Festiva salad, only to get a strange look both times from the cashier...she politely informed me that it had been several years since either of those items had been on their menu, but she did seem to appreciate my knowledge of historical Taco John's menu items.

It seems like Taco John's is concentrated heavily in the Upper Midwest and is common from northern Kansas and Norther Missouri on up and also in Wyoming and Montana. Kind of wierd, I have seen a Taco John's in Northern Kentucky along US 41. Not too many of them, but there was one there.

I have seen other regional taco chains outside of Taco John's strongholds such as Taco Tico in the Kansas/Oklahoma area, Taco Mayo in Kansas/Oklahoma/Texas/Missouri areas, and Taco Time out west in areas such as Idaho, Western Wyoming, and Western Montana. I should try them and see how they stack up to to Taco John's.

I personally like both Taco John's and Taco Bell. For me, it depends on the item and the day.
