I am currently writing a sci-fi book on a meteor hitting a large (three million people) city. I need information on the destruction encountered. The meteor is a size that is no bigger than one that would destroy this city. How big would the crater be? How far would the effects be encountered? What would the devastation look like in the surrounding areas? How close to the crater could help get? It is easy to find info. on huge meteors or ones that burn up in our atmosphere, but not the size mentioned above. Somebody help me.

I wonder what would happen if the meteor was made of jell-o?

1) Jell-o is mostly water + a little bit of other stuff, so choose comet for the density. It's a good start at least

2) If you like pineapple chunks in your Jell-o, let's hope that it hits Hawaii.
