A few thousand years? I think you are being highly optimistic. I think it would be more likely a few hundred years (if that!).
Who knows, may the aliens have been watching us for some time and saw our politicians in action, the court/justice system, the "reality" TV shows, the Octo mom, saw Kardashians, heard Justin Blabber and Lady-Gag Gag and decide to take action and zap us all into ashes, wouldn't that be wonderful?

They would think that we are extremely primitive and that we are fighting wars over whose fairy tale is the most correct. They'd also laugh at the notion that some people would call them demonic creatures from Satan... like the natives did when Spaniards arrived with their horses. They thought they were looking at gods and demons.
