I'll admit it. I'm confused. Sarah was wife to Andrew Lloyd Weber, and is likely one of the greatest semi-operatic singers of this generation, but I see no way that she would want to spend that amount to go to the ISS. I think someone may be pulling a leg.
Welll we parked the shuttle and never followed through witha cheaper Rocket to get there and now it is like bidding for Superbowl tickets to get a seat on soyuz to get to the space staion we helped build it with Russia with the shuttle program since the shuttle was pretty much the Minivan of space travel.
Plus $51 Million is pretty steep to go to the ISS and just hang out for a few months with the rest of the crew is busy doing their mission objectives abd baby sitting the guest because they are trained to be there and she is not so they are stuck having to make sure she is ejoying the trip but not getting in the way of their mission.
I would guess if you or I had unlimited money you betcha we'd want to spend a couple of months up in orbit....
I remember seeing a video on Youtube, guy totaled a $100,000.00 RC jet.. Guy says oh well, I'll just buy another one...
When I went into higher-end sales, it took a long time for me to not think with my own wallet. People with means will spend crazy money on things I didn't know existed, with about as much deliberation as it takes me to decide what's for lunch.
In a bit of irony, I was selling $20,000 plasma TVs when they first came out, and felt that was easily justifiable. I have friends in the sewing machine business, who sell $10K embroidery machines. At first that was an unthinkable expense. But now it's just another high end product that is appreciated by those in the know.
SB's supposed net worth doesn't come close to $51 mil, so that number is questionable.
