If things are consistent, there will be a commercial alternatives at prices far less than what NASA and the Russian Space Agency paid. And, likely, far far better.

They can stay up there forever. It will be floating in mid-air for 100 years. By that time someone will be there to tackle that problem. So no big deal.

If nothing else, the station can serve as a base for the construction of a new station. They can also detach modules and move then over.

I think private space agencies are the future of space exploration. Building a new space station is a chance for unknown companies to show themselves and enter the aerospace engineering industry. The article suggested that China and several private companies build space stations to replace the ISS, but I haven't found their names. Is there someone who knows what these companies are? I heard there's an aerospace company in UK, and I guess they should try to participate in this "space race". They are famous for eco-fuel and hybrid rockets, but I suppose it's time to develop and show what they can do for our world. What do you guys think about it?
