pre-verbal is hard to explain. He was not really speaking. He had sounds, but few words. He did have a few words he used to label things. His receptive language was pretty bad as well. He did not follow three step directions.
Yes, he learned in the mainstream class with supports - he had resource reading and math pullouts at first and then they switched to push ins.
He was, however, a compliant child who did what the teachers asked or at least tried to do so.
