Our son is 4 years old and has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS. His main difficulties have been in coping with transitions, expanding play (beyond repetitive play) and learning to use language in social situations (pragmatics). This year we will continue at his preschool, which is a small private program of him plus 11 mainstream kids -- he has a SEIT who assists for part of each day plus some OT and speech on the side.

His program ends at pre-K, so we are now looking for kindergarten options for next fall (2010) in New York City. I think what we would like is a small (12 students) integrated classroom with services available on-site. ABA training for teachers would be a critical piece for us, since he has responded extremely well to his SEIT who is ABA-trained.

Can anyone recommend specific programs to check out? Or a good NYC site with similar threads?

Many thanks.

Wow, I am looking for the exact same thing - but in the North Jersey area. I am interested to see what replies come up. Good luck!

Simone

Simone, I have seen some positive reviews for a school in Paramus that focuses on autism, it is called Alpine Learning Group, but so far I have not had much success trying to find lists of programs for integrated environments. It all seems to be word of mouth.
