My family and I are looking at houses on the internet and I found that there are mostly manufactured homes in more rural areas outside of Spokane. This is okay for us to began with. We have seen two homes that we are interested in. One is in Tumtum and the other is in Medical Lake next to Silver Lake. Anybody familiar with these areas? I have a sixteen year old nephew and my elderly parents coming to live with my husband and I. I am concerned about medical doctors for my parents and schools for my nephew. Also I am hispanic and my husband is caucasion.

Tumtum is bit farther away from the medical facilities you might need. Medical Lake would be easier to get to the freeway to get to Spokane. You're right that most of the outlying areas are mixed in housing - manufactured homes have been the most cost effective style home for people wanting to have property and space. Depending on where in Tumtum, your nephew would either go to the Nine Mile Falls district school (Lakeside HS) or Springdale HS. In Medical Lake, he would most likely go to Medical Lake HS, although some parts go to Cheney HS.

Talking Silver Lake

If you are talking about the Picnic Pines Park on Silver Lake, It is mostly low income people that don't want to improve their situation. The lake is nice, but I have heard that the owners of the park are talking with developers and are wanting to close down the park and put in condos.
