Well, in short I'm looking to re-locate to the Spokane area next summer. I've never been to the area but its sounds so appealing. I'm 21, spent the last 4 years on Active duty in the Army in Alaska & Georgia. Looking to go to school, maybe EWU or WSU. So does Spokane have anything to offer for college students? Is it a wise choice to live there?

Hi, welcome to the forums. Spokane has several colleges, including Whitworth, a private school, and as you know EWU. It's not a college town as such, like say Pullman is, but it's got some decent amenities for a college student. I like visiting the city occasionally.

What about Spokane appeals to you, more than say Seattle?

My daughter is a senior at Whitworth and graduates in May. She has already been offered her "dream job (and accepted) post-graduation. She's gotten a fabulous education at Whitworth. I highly recommend it.

Ok, never looked at Whitworth, due to it being more of a private school, and i get less coverage on the gi bill, but i will now. What appeals to me more than Seattle? Mostly the weather, the last time I was in Seattle in was overcast for the entire 2 weeks. That was F*cking depressing man! But from what Ive heard and seen from Spokane its got more of a 4 season thing going on. plus rent is alot cheaper.

I'm assuming you've looked at Gonzaga as well...you have several choices in Spokane.
Yeah, more of a 4 season town, great if you like outdoor-type stuff.

I enjoyed Spokane when I was college-aged. Really, seriously, fully enjoyed...of course, that was a whole 'nother lifetime ago. I doubt that option has left. It's big enough you can find about whatever you like and about whatever kind of people you like.

A lot of ex-/retired military there so you shouldn't be a rarity--more air force than other services.
