Interesting to compare Spokane threads to what AARP said. Not everyone likes the town, but many do.

Another way to look at it is to compare the opinions of residents and those of one-time visitors with a stake in marketing the city in return for um "considerations"...

It's relatively easy to make anyplace sound good, if you repeat the Chamber of Commerce puffery and the real estate salespeoples' boilerplate.

Consider:

"Enjoy lovely views of the Delaware River, famed for Washington's victory in the Revolutionary War. Home of noted American poet Walt Whitman, whose quaint house in the downtown area is a national historic shrine. Only minutes from the beaches of famed Atlantic City. Near the Wharton State Forest, one of the largest undeveloped remote areas on the East Coast. A short drive from Philadelphia and its many historic and cultural attractions."

Guess the city? It's Camden, New Jersey...

You're really good, Yeledaf. You should consider writing a few listing descriptions for me when you get to Spokane. I'll be sure to specify if I want blatantly cynical and sarcastic rhetoric, or ridiculously blatant puffery beforehand so there's no confusion. You certainly excel at both. I feel like you might be missing your calling for a career in Real Estate Sales (haha, note all caps)

Yeah, I'm a charming fixer-upper. With plenty of curb appeal.

That is GROSS income of $100 a day, not actual expense of $100 a day. So after the authors calculated 25% tax bracket estimation, which is fairly accurate, that brings the actual expense to $75 a day net.
