Relocating to Spokane for a job in the valley. I am looking at the houses for rent. Most of them in my price range seem to pop up in the above named areas. Are these safe areas or am I too close to downtown. Ideally, I prefer a house with a yard in the country. However, there aren't many to choose from. Any boundary suggestions for safe areas in Spokane and Spokane Valley? Thanks!

These areas you listed are all considered the north side. My son goes to Shadle Park High School but we live further north in the Indian Trail area. My Sister lives in the Garland "District" still considered the Shadle area. Lots of ranchers, some in disrepair, some nice, pockets of bad, pockets of good, overall a decent place with decent schools.

Audubon and Corbin areas have some cool old homes, neat park but some very sketchy areas too. Good place for the hipster set to invest(blow) their money on some cool old homes.

You need to look in the Valley, even though the commute from either of those places (you listed) is not bad, realtively, you'd be better off closer to your intended work place.

Where are you going to be working?
What is your budget for housing?
Family size?

What other interests do you have besides yard in the country?
