People from AZ or So Cal might find it more humid here than back home, but it's not compared to the rest of the country, quite dry in fact. Summers after the 4th of July tend to be hot and dry. Fall is glorious (not with foliage colors you're used to) but crisp evenings, warm days and rainy days too. Spring is long and wet (and generally on the cold side). Winter is generally snowy and much drier than back east. It gets cold but rarely goes below zero.

Tossing this off the top of my head so others may disagree.

I would say Denver has fewer rainy days and more sunny days than Spokane. Close temp wise though.

Snowfall is definitely a part of Spokane winters. However, like many places in the NW, the severity of winter seems to have lessened the past 2-3 decades.

Seems milder than in the midwest... when I lived in IL we got 20" of snow in a night, and we dipped a few times in the negatives

But it is generally cold and gloomy in Spokane from roughly Hallowe'en through Mothers Day. Or, in years like this, trick or treat through July. With an occasional burst of ungodly heat once in a while thrown in to keep people off-balance.

Today is glorious, though. An added bonus is that most of the road rage warriors and general ay-holes are downtown at Hoopfest elbowing each other in the chops rather than wreaking mayhem on our thoroughfares and pushing old ladies out of the way to get to the express lane at Rosauers.

It took a long time for me to come to terms with the dismal climate in Spokane. I finally realized that the payoff for the months of gloom resides in absolutely gorgeous days like today, with the sun shining brightly in a cloudless sky, the air warm yet crisp and fresh, the trees and flowers in full song, and the mild-mannered Spokanites venturing outdoors -- outdoors! -- to walk, run, bike, play tennis, etc. You know -- the kind of things folks in many other parts of the country do nearly every day.

Now some people on this forum will tell you that I am such a curmudgeon that I haven't really come to terms, at all. In my defense, I assert that yes, I sometimes forget that I am in Spokane, and imagine myself in a place where the weather has no business abusing us as it does. But then I go outside, noting the absence of sirens, police cars, toronados, floods, earthquakes and all the other natural shocks that flesh is heir to in the unfortunate places in our nation...and accept the fate of living here in relative peace and quiet. Though it pays to carry a fleece vest in your car on the Fourth of July.

I'm neutral on that. I've got both cats and dogs in my family.

And I'm a Quaker.

I spent a good part of the day on 90, the 405 and 5 and seems like the aye holes were out in force. I like Spokane much better than this side. It was a beautiful day all across WA though.

Glad you clarified, man.
