My husband is thinking about relocating to Newman Lake area to be close to the nature. He's looking at the lake area. My job relies heavily on high speed internet. If we do move there, in the mountains around Newman Lake, which internet provider will you suggest? Or, will I even be able to get internet? It's very crucial. If we can't get the internet, I won't agree to move and then I won't have to quit my current well-paid job on the east coast. Please help. Thank you in advance.

I believe Newman Lake is in Spokane County.

You need to move just slightly north to Pend O'Reille County.

You MUST cross the county line. Pend O'Reille County has built a high speed fiber optic network that is OWNED by county residents. Due to Washington state law (damn Democrats) the county cannot provide broadband services directly to county residents but must go through a retail provider.

Here is one the web page for one provider:http://www.ifiber.tv/sites/web/docroot/internet_po.html

and another: Concept Communications

There are several other service provides that use the PUD network. So you have a choice of retail provider.

Be careful, NOT all county residents have access to fiber at this time. But I understand that the fiber build out is almost complete.

Here is a way to quickly determine if fiber service is available for a given address:

https://cnsfiber.net/GetConnected

There are plenty of lakes in Pend Oreille county for your husband and fast, reliable internet for you.

Check around....I am located in another area for public fiber network in Chelan County so do not have the exact information on Pend Oreille County. Contact the PUD....ask questions.

Hopefully, somebody else can answer you question on Newman Lake.

Thank you very much, 509. (Seldom used this forum. Not sure how to tag your name.) My husband has his heart set on some specific properties and none of them is in Pend Oreille county...

Have him drive up and look across the county line.

There are lots of cool lakes, snowmobile and cross-country ski trails, etc. just over the line.

Dunno what you consider high speed, some places it is 300Mbps. Just over the border (IDAHO) from Newman is Hauser and I get 30Mbps down, 5 up and 15ms ping from Time Warner(bought out by Charter and now is called Spectrum).

Thank you very much. The possible places we're looking at are quite remote. One of them is surrounded by trees in the mountains. I can't find my cable bill to see how many Mbps I get, but right now I'm paying for the fastest speed for TWC's internet. Our house is in the residential area.

I have friends in Pend Oreille county that are 35 miles in on a dirt road. They have fiber.

Newman Lake is not remote, but if remote is on your radar....Pend Oreille county.
