Hi everyone,

I posted this as a comment on another thread, but so as to not hijack that thread (and because apparently no one has seen it):

I've been researching and reading about property taxes in Spokane, and it seems there are several articles/mentions related to a big increase in 2018 for property taxes. I'm wondering if any of those provisions or issues have come into affect, and if there is anything I should incorporate into my tax formulas as I'm comparing places to live. Don't want to be caught off guard with something.

Also, to what degree to folks feel like the property tax situation in Spokane (or Washington in general) is stable? I know there has been some big news related to state income taxes - are there any news stories or bills I should following on the property tax front?

Thanks much in advance...

Could you post where you are reading these? I haven't heard anything coming up big for increases.

Also are you talking about Spokane city limits or in Spokane county? Each school district and fire district has their own levies & charges that are part of the total tax bill. In some areas, even the water service is part of the property tax, so it really depends on what area you are considering.

Hey folks - thanks for the reply. Here's a link to one of the articles I found. Looks like a school levy. Here's another one that looks like a statewide levy.

In the article you linked to, it specifically discusses the fact that this one year is an off-year because the system is changing hands. Property taxes should go down the following year and if they pass any kind of tax-relief bill, they'll go down even further. I don't think it should really impact any long-term decisions on where to live.

Thanks ShadoAngel, and apologies for the delay in response. I suppose that article was more of an example to my larger question, wondering if there are any variables I need to consider beyond the nominal tax assessments on the county websites. I'm guessing from your response that your answer is no?
