My husband and I will be relocating to Spakane in a few months. We lived in Portland for 9 years and have been in Marin County/Bay Area for 5 years. I will be leaving my friends and my career in the stock market behind, and hopefully will start to focus on raising a family

We are both very active mtn bikers and runners and would love to hook up with some groups or riding/racing teams in the area. I'm also curious if there are some running/hiking trails in/around town without heading up to Mt. Spokane during the week. We are hoping to land in the South Hill area, so maybe some trails around there. Also, I"m looking for a good Pilates studio.

Although I'm not involved in the runner/biker communities there seems to be both in Spokane. I can point you in the direction of a couple of websites you might find helpful:

Pedals2People Blog (http://pedals2people.org/blog/blogs/p2p/default.aspx - broken link)

Cycling Spokane

BRRC.net

I also know there are several trails running up and down "the bluff" which is the hillside west of High Drive on the South Hill that slopes down to the Hangman Valley/Qualchan area.

Good luck with your move.

I was going to suggest going to the local REI store or Mountain Gear - they probably have info on groups you could get together with to do cycling/hiking. There's a Spokane Mountaineers group that gets together for various outdoor adventures, too.

One more link I meant to add was to the monthly outdoor magazine:
