Figured someone should start it.

I live downtown and attended the protest.

Protest was pretty mild, notwithstanding the loud mouths getting in LEO faces and screaming.

Went back to the condo. About 5 pm went out for some dinner.

I realized there was some hooting and hollering going on below, but thought it was couple of blocks away.

It wasn't. We walked out our entrance at Main/Howard, and we turned right to Wall/Main and the tear gas was applied and we got hustled down the street. My wife and I got second hand pepper sprayed.

We were stuck by the Red Robin until 8 pm when a Spokane cop escorted us through the perimeter back to our building.

Could smell the gas 8 floors up on our balcony till about 9.30 pm. Could hear LE down by the park encouraging people to leave the park and then they were gone.

Thought law enforcement handled it pretty decently.

We have both been in other deals in San Francisco where batons were used quickly and things got ugly quickly.

We agreed this seemed like a very polite "riot".

PS. Kind of surreal walking my 2 dogs at 5.30 am with only street sweepers,me (2 dogs) and they looked like National Guard, but not sure, patrolling the downtown area.

I hear there is another organized protest scheduled for this coming Sunday also. Law enforcement is already aware of it. I have a condo downtown also and will be in town. Hoping nothing gets out of hand and everyone stays respectful.

The riot finally quieted down and dispersed when armed good guys showed up to protect local residents, homes and businesses. Police were just herding them down the street, letting them smash windows, loot and trash buildings on the way.

And then it was on the news, local businessmen filing complains about the armed citizens who were there to protect their stores.

Sounds like Spokane has a liberal mayor ordering the cops to stand down. Sad!

Well Spokane seems to be a blue dot in a sea of red. So yes, the mayor is liberal.

I never read or saw anything where the mayor ordered the police to stand down.

When the looters broke the glass at the Nike store that is when the gas and rubber bullets came out.

So one looted store, bunch of graffiti (cleaned up the next day) and no injuries- I call that a win.

The armed citizens really didn't take back "control" of downtown Spokane, the police did.

The police here did their jobs.
