I'm Mort,
We need to move to a lower elevation from the mountains of Colorado due to a health issue but we like it cool and need to be near downhill skiing. Spokane and the surrounding area seem to have possibilities. Absence of crazy weather patterns or a lot of rain are also unacceptable. One of us needs a job in the social/human services field. I'll appreciate any info. Thanks in advance.

I really blew my message. Crazy weather patterns and lots of rain are unacceptable.

Spokane's elevation is a little above 2,000 feet so it shouldn't be too much of a concern elevation wise. There is a decent amount of downhill skiing in the area. Spokane doesn't get much rain (not like west of the Cascades) but it can does get snow in the winter (sometimes not much, sometime a pretty fair amount, depending on the year). I would think social/health services would be a viable option in Spokane.

Hi, I agree with Kena, our winters "normally" don't get an abundance of snow, except "ofcourse" the last couple of winters. This past winter you would have thought you were in a city in Alaska, 7 feet hum....snow blower heaven...but it is a lovely area, has a little bit of everything. Seems to have the small town atmosphere within a large city and rain is "nothing" like that of western Washington ....It does have it's 4 seasons is the primary reason I moved here, spring and summer weather is beautiful as well as the scenery. In regards to employment in your field, check the online employment centers, and also can check the local newspaper,
