I was wondering if anyone had some advice for me. Im still young and currently live in central Texas.
Help anyone?
I love being outdoors and love the wilderness. Lived in Colorado for sometime and fell in love with the forests so I was looking into moving to Washington. Im still very on the fence about it but rainy weather and cold days are my thing which is why i think Washington is a good choice. Im just now starting to look into things so theres alot to do still. Im in college and need to be somewhere close enough to commute to a city with a campus. I want to be near the ocean(marine bio major) but thats not a deal breaker but want to stay close to the mountains too. Help anyone?

Spokane isn't it.

Anywhere along the west coast down to about Monterey, CA should be fine. However, I don't know how much marine biology you'll find in the Puget Sound region of WA, for example (not exactly on the coast) .

Quite a lot actually, it's home to the Giant Octupus, Orcas, migrating Salmon, etc., etc.

I have found Spokane boring to be honest. I am from one of the biggest cities in the world and I loved my busy, exciting life there. I have been living in Spokane for over three years now, but I've been having hard time enjoying myself here. I miss the nightlife with my girlfriends. I miss walking down on busy shopping streets (and people walking on the streets, not driving). I miss public transportation that actually works. Miss the city that never sleeps... I guess it completely depends on a person though -- I consider myself a typical "city girl". Yes, there are lots of outdoor activities but I just do not care for it so much (I have tried many outdoor stuff here in Spokane). If you live in Spokane and are completely happy here, you are lucky! I am moving very soon. I will certainly miss the nature and fresh air in the morning though!

It's funny how people have entirely different definitions of "boring". To me, I don't care how many bars, clubs, operas, ballets, shopping malls, or Vietnamese restaurants a city has. Talk about boring.

Ya I think when I was younger I would have found Spokane to be a little slow too, but I'm not into night life anymore so this area fits my lifestyle. Different areas appeal to certain people depending on where they are at in their life.

"Meth is everywhere" - I live in Hawaii - it is here - it is everywhere. Spokane is no different.
Stationed in Spokane from 57-60 in USAF. Loved the city and surrounding area. Have lived
all over the US and I would move to Spokane if I had a chance. Any state or city is what you make
it. Those high school kids that hate Spokane will not be any more satisfied in any other city.

High school kids are bored in Spokane because boring is all they know. They were raised in a culture of entertainment and consumption, and that's all they know. Time will hang heavily on their hands no matter where they go.

People who can make it up as they go along -- for themselves -- aren't bored, no matter what circumstance they are in, or whether they live in Spokane, Joplin MO, or NYC.

Which is more boring: being mugged in Central Park, or being bitten by a mosquito in Manito Park?

Depends on how often you get mugged.
