Dear Reeree1 -

Thanks for your input. Nice to hear the schools have been supportive to your family.

I have been homeschooling my son, as well, due to the fact that I'm so frustrated with the lack of Inclusion support from school districts. Interestingly, my son is achieving more academic skills at home (for this first half of the school year, alone) than he ever did as a full-time enrollee. I believe the one-on-one dedication, and the belief that he can master these skills, makes a great difference.

Still, I feel it's important for him to be around other kids in a Gen Ed Inclusion setting for the social skills. Sometimes, I feel guilty that he is not around other kiddos.

I was hoping to do ancillary Inclusion services w/ the district (here in Monroe). But, again, they tried to jack me on his IEP. At that point, I figured my only recourse was to take matters into my own hands and pull him out altogether...while they lose state/fed funding (damn knuckleheads).

Anyway, thanks again.

(BTW: Where is Cheney?)

We are about 5-10 miles away from Spokane in the west plains. If you are homeschooling, they have the homeworks program (although Spokane Valley has a similar program as well). Ultimately, for us, I want to get the 6 year old caught up (he is repeating kindergarten at home this year- immaturity issues) and then I want to get him back in at the local school but in th regular program and not the special ed core.
