Airway Heights is a growing area where Fairchild Air Force Base is located. It's got a lot of fast food type restaurants and there's a newer casino nearby that draws a lot of people - some concerts and comedians. I think crime is pretty low since it's primarily military families out there. YOu could work in Spokane and live in Airway Heights pretty easily - it's a quick drive out Hwy. 2 from downtown Spokane.

Default Airway Heights

Airway Heights is a growing city with homes costing much less than Spokane--Spokane is just a few miles away. There are several new housing developments ongoing--Russell Heights, Sunset Crossing, Aspen Grove, and the new Hunters Crossing, as well as new apartment buildings at the outskirts of the city. WalMart has plans to open up a new store sometime next year, and once that happens a lot of other businesses will follow. Crime is low, the main road is Highway 2 which gives direct access to the Interstate Highway. The City has an Elementary School but middle and high school students attend school in Cheney, which is about 7 miles away. If you need more information visit www.cawh.org.

Airway Heights is a growing community, west of Spokane, which has all the resources available that "big cities" provide, yet still maintains the "small-town" atmosphere and living. Airway Heights is a great place to raise your family. It has a wonderful park for all of the kids, a skate park, baseball feild and B.B.Q. facilities for the entire family and community groups to use. The Airway Heights community Park is also the location of our community festival, parade and Blues Festival, held every year in August. Our park also hosts several Collectible Car Shows and other events. Parents and children can freely ride their bicycles through out all the residential, school and park areas of the town with out the fear of being struck by automobiles, as they would in the larger cities. The citizens here are very neighborally, helpful and are very involved with the communities needs, activities and growth. There are a variety of churches , locally owned businesses and organizations, County Library and Community Center. Airway Heights offers a variety of resturant dining, from KFC, Mc,Donalds, and Taco time, to finer family and ethnic dining such as the Lai Lai Gardens, oriental quisine, China Buffet and the Buckhorn Resturant & Lounge, which features Live Music and dancing every weekend. Recently several new establishments have opened,1 featuring authentic Mexican quisine ,a Mexican Cantina, Dollar Store and a new truck-stop and gas station, west of town. Several other businesses are planning to be available soon, such as Walmart.
Airway Heights is surrounded by alot of entertaining places for fun and recreation, the Northern Quest Casino, which not only hosts games and gambling, but fine dining, concerts, and other live entertainment for adults and the entire family. The Spokane Raceway has Drag-Racing, Circle track races, motorcycle racing and is the Home of the AHRA-World Finals and Jet car races held the 1st weekend in July. There is also a nearby ORV park featuring motocross and other events.
Airway Heights has alot to offer, and it is the most affordable area to live within Spokane County. Its the Biggest little secret in the area!!

I was recently hired by a local trucking company just west of Spokane. I was in the area last weekend and made an offer on a house in Airway Heights. I was glad to read what shejamms wrote. I will be living very close to the community park and look forward to the activity there. I like to ride my horse, have a motor cycle and bicycle. I'll be moving soon from Montana and am anxious to get involved in all the activity.
