Haha
I find it odd that in rugby you guys play on after the final whistle...
If saints win - I'll be happy with the rule
That's not really unique to rugby. It's in both codes. In league and gridiron, they play until the next tackle. In basketball, a shot can go in after the buzzer if it's off the hands. Even in AFL, a free kick can be made after the siren.
To be honest I don't know jack about AFL, but how long does it take to score in AFL? Is the reason they don't have overtime because it takes so long to score?
It's all because the AFL hasn't kept up with changes in the game and changes in what people expect from it. Grand Final replays just aren't acceptable anymore and the AFL, is going to have to look at this issue of "extra time" very hard - or we'll just end up repeating this problem again and again!

nope, the first goal of the Grand Final Part 1 took 24 seconds.
I wouldn't want a golden goal kind of thing but I suspect they will lean towards 5 extra minutes each way.
The thing with AFL is the running, players are running around 18km in a game, so 5 extra minutes is quite long, but I suspect its better than an extra 2 hours.
The build up isn't the same and some players have said it feels more like a normal game rather than the pressure of GF.
