Legendary old time pro wrestler Dick Beyer passed away at 88. He had a great career in the old Southern California WWA promotion, The AWA where he was WOrld Champion in the early 60's, and Japan. He also worked for the buffalo promotion in his hometown, and worked for the WWF in semi retirement only in Buffalo when they first started their march to conquering the whole wrestling industry.
He also trained Mike Rotundo who was spotted by Beyer wrestling for Syracuse University. Rotundo never watched pro wrestling. Beyer told him if he gave it a try, he would probably be successful. History has proven this to be true.
Remember him from when I was a kid he would make appearances a few times on regional TV when he was between contracts, always put on a great show.
