I bought a ticket for a hockey game and on the day of the hockey game, some guy from the Islanders called me, and asked me if I would like to go to any future hockey, Islanders games. I told him that I'm only going to be in the state for the week, I thought he was trying to tell me that the game was cancelled but it wasn't. He just wanted to know if I want to go to other future games. Is this normal to get calls like this for sports events?
Yes. Especially with teams that have trouble at the gate. It's a warm lead. Someone bought a ticket so they have some interest - let's give a call and see if we can entice them to buy more tickets.
I actually ended up for a few season being able to select individual game tickets for any regular season game at group ticket prices for the coyotes - which was awesome. Still every now and again I'll get a call with a good deal or just a check in.
These have slowed as has my attendace with the addition of kids
That's kind of a dumb question. This isnt just normal in sports but any business with any sense in the world. By purchasing tickets, you have supplied team/company with a sales lead. They would be complete and utter morons not to take advantage of it.
