With the brutal beatings of fans lately, the threats made against a 49er player for muffing points, the events at the bcs championship game, and the constant melees at large sport events, are we entering a very dangerous era in sports??

Do any of these events make you more leery about going to sporting events??

Not really. There has always been some form of madness associated with Sporting events. In fact, an argument can be made that these incidents have reduced in recent times due to continued effort to control the events. I hope you get a chance to interview or chat with some of the previous athletes...the horror stories some of them will tell you will blow your mind.

I went to a bowl game once in New Orleans once. My alma mater lost. Afterwards, we met up with many fans from the other school who were celebrating their win. They were actually very gracious winners and I saw no problems at all.
People need to take responsibility for their actions
I know it is disappointing when your team loses. I went to North Texas !!!!! They have not had a great team since Joe Green left when I was a litle little kid!!!
I am used to that disapoointment !!! But I don't go out and beat on fans of other schools who made a choice to attend a college that has a decent program. (Instead I just called for Coach Todd Dodge's head. Rick Villareal is next)

No. I think the solution to the problem is simple, curtail the alcohol at sporting events. NOT eliminate it, just make it harder to get, (high prices, less alchohol venders, maybe no more selling alchohol after half time, or the 6th inning), something. It does annoy me to see people smashed at games. You should be there to enjoy the game, NOT get wasted

It's no different than any other time. The thing is that with social media, 24 hours news stations, 24 hours sports stations, we just hear about more of it whereas before a lot of it didnt get covered nationally. Now we find out if someone so much as sneezes the wrong direction.
