I dont know a ton about bowling, but according to the googles, the best professional bowlers in the world average around 225ish. So if you see people averaging 290, they should probably quit their jobs and take their rightful spot as the greatest bowler of all time. Sure pros bowl 300s now and then, but AVERAGE? Do you mean average as in the actual meaning of the word?
A 300 perfect game is 12 strikes. To get a 290, you have to get 11 strikes in a row. No one does this on a long term average.
I average in the mid 190's trying to get to 200 by season end. High game is 289.
I used to bowl from middle school age until the 1990's.
My high score was 243. My best average was 162.
This is good among some of my peer group, but I am not a "good" bowler in the sense of the word.
I'm similar to Stripes 17 regarding the numbers. My high game is 245 and my average overall is 165. Haven't bowled in years, need to get back into it though. I always enjoyed it.
