As long as he doesn't say anything bad about anyone else, I see nothing wrong with Bolt's declarations. I find it humorous and I tip my hat to him when he delivers.
The man is a wealth of talent. Everyone is programmed to their own tune but most seem to follow behind everyone else. He beats to his drum and backs it up with his talent.
Talent plays a huge part in legacies however personality is a close second.
We the people remember those over the top types.
It's funny how we have one thread praising him of pausing an interview to acknowledge the US National Anthem... Showing what type of charcter and integrity the man has.
And then this one which for lack of a better term "hates" on him for considering himself the sprinter GOAT. Saying he's to arrogant and pompous.
Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson didn't have to say how great they were - they simply proved it - on the track.
Why does Bolt seem to have a persecution complex - does he seriously think that people aren't recognizing him as a great athlete?
Did you see any of Jordans HOF speech? .... or pretty much anytime he's talked without a commercial script?
Also, Carl Lewis is far from an example of humility & grace
Not to say that Bolt doesn't get a little tiresome at times with his talking - but to use those two as examples of people being humble is a large stretch

I wasn't talking about Jordan - I referenced Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson - as did Bolt.
you cannot be the best if you are humble , a humble person wouldnt think they were deserving of a shot , let alone great success , ego ( and a degree of arrogance ) is essential to suceed in life , let alone sport
Bolt doesn't rub me the wrong way. The man is an incredible sprinter, exciting to watch. I also gained a great deal of respect for Tyson Gay. He made a good account of himself in those races, and acted as a professional in losing to Bolt.
Bolt has to be himself. One day, he too will be beaten.
