I wouldn't say the NHL is more popular than the NBA, but the NBA is definitely shoved down our throats when it is not as popular as certain people (ESPN) would like us to think. MLB and NASCAR is still more popular.

Yes NASCAR. The TV rating are better than MLB and the NHL. NASCAR also takes on the NBA at times.
Well you also have to look at the number of games (or races). There are a lot less NASCAR races than NHL, NBA, and especially MLB games. And there is a lot more to popularity than TV ratings. How much NASCAR merchandise is sold compared to the three leagues you named? That's what I thought.
NASCAR definitely has fewer races to game but each race can hold 100k+, so they can pack them in. Though attendance has slipped a lot. NASCAR merc is something like a 2billion dollar a year industry so it's up there. NFL is king no doubt but NASCAR is no chump.

When MJ comes out of retirement the 9th time, then it'll be a clear winner as regular season NBA games versus the likes of Pelicans and Magic out perform the NFL playoffs and no one remembers what NHL stands for.
