The final official event on the ATP Calendar for 2013 has just commenced.
Only the Top 8 are invited to attend (Andy Murray is out injured).
There is a lot on the line, not least the Year Ending Number 1 - which Nadal should secure with 1 or 2 victories (depending on which source you read) in the round robin stage, and the prestige of the event itself.
Fast indoor hard courts are not his best surface though.
Federer has won this event 6 times, so is always dangerous and cannot be discounted despite his decline this year.
Both Delpo and Ferrer can also perform under such conditions, as can Berdych.
Wawrinka has had his best career season, and makes his debut, after reaching a career high ranking this year.
The stylish Richard Gasquet returns for the 1st time in 6 years.
Djokovic comes into this on the back of a 17 match winning streak since after the USO, and is clear favourite.
But, since it is a RR, anyone can win it.

Things heating up now, Nadal has won his 1st 2 matches to secure his Year Ending Number 1 for the 3rd time:

He should probably win his Group Round Robin before semi-finals.
Joker is still overwhelming favourite:

He has just accounted for Del Potro again, who will fight it out with Federer for the other semifinal spot from his group.

Only one spot up for grabs now in the Semis, to be decided tomorrow between Delpo and Federer:

Roger, delPo Play For SF Spot Saturday - Tennis - ATP World Tour

The winner of this Semi will meet Nadal, who won his Group 3-0.
Both of these guys, especially Delpo now, are dangerous to Nadal on indoor hard courts.
Djokovic vs Wawrinka is the other semi, which you would expect is an easier semi. Joker also plays Richard Gasquet tomorrow, but this is now a dead rubber - but expect Joker to make this 20-0 on the trot.

Well we've got the final we wanted, we've got 1 vs 2 :

Novak Djokovic To Face Rafael Nadal For Title - Tennis - ATP World Tour

Indoor hard courts would slightly favour Joker, but both have nothing to lose now that Year ending Number 1 has been decided, so we should see some free flowing tennis.

Stunning victory by Djokovic over Nadal to retain the London title:

Novak Djokovic Retains Title With Two-Set Win - Tennis - ATP World Tour

He is now in the same deadly and devastating form as Nadal was in the lead up to USO, that's 22-0 since then.
January 2014 and the Australian Open are now looking very ominous to his opponents.

Rafa is still Player of the Year.

He needs to regroup now and beat this guy (if they meet) in Melbourne.
