New year, new champs. It's time for City-Data's annual recap of the guys and girls who held trophies this year.

Let's take a look back at another chapter of sports history. Five Big Points:

- The Super Bowl returned to New Orleans which featured the 49ers returning to the big game for the first time since 1995, a blackout in the Superdome, a brother vs. brother Head Coach showdown, and the Ravens winning their 2nd title.
- In an epic NBA Finals, the Heat and Lebron James took home back to back NBA Championships in Game 7.
- Notre Dame returns to being the #1 team in the nation and playing for a National Title... only to get destroyed by Alabama.
- Jimmie Johnson continues to knock on the door of legendary status by winning his 6th NASCAR title.
- The Red Sox beat the Cardinals in the World Series after a very emotional season in Boston...

Here's a list of the major National and World Champions of 2013, in case you've been living under a rock...

2013 was a brutal year for me

Football
Shelbourne FC relegated
Colorado had another poor run.
Liverpool were again disappointing (though somewhat improved this year)
Perth Glory finished fifth
Brondby found themselves close to bankruptcy

Arena Football
Amarillo Venom took the LSFL easily again.

Rugby
London Irish are doing horrible, but at least theyre not Worcester Warriors
Leinster are 2nd and about 4 or 5 points off first spot if I remember correctly.

College Ball
Notre Dame did crap :|

Dundee FC - relegated but riding high in the championship this year
Scotland - up in the rankings and some great performances lately and a lot of youth coming through
Edinburgh Rugby - poor this year and Glasgow playing well makes it worse!
Tennis - Murray was great this season Wimbledon win topped it all off
Track Cycling - The UK dominating again

I thought about adding tennis, but I really don't know how that works.

And I think I had Women's College Hoops wrong.
