Sine the Summer Olympics are going to be inBrazil, why not throw the winter olympics down south as well ? We can watch them here in JULY
Should not go to Japan, since TOKYO is getting the summer Olympics already in 2020'
Nothing Wrong with Norway having them again.
Poland ? maybe
What about that place outside of that one town there in that one country near Germany ?
Chile never won a Winter medal, it has no tradition in Winter Games. If it hosted, it would be the first time where a host nation never won a medal on home soil.
Brazil hosting Summer Games is different than Chile in Winter.
Oslo or Krakow are probably the best choices. I'm surprised they have narrowed it down to just 5 cities already, and why the hell is Beijing on there? They hosted the Olympics in 2008, and they aren't a wintry city at all. That would be a horrible choice. 1994 by the year 2022 will have been nearly 30 years, that's a long enough gap for Norway to host the Olympics again.
I would like to see the United States host it again, but we already did in 2002, somewhat recently. However, I think Denver/Aspen would be the absolute best choice in the world for the winter Olympics. Large city, plenty of peaks, plenty of snow, already used to hosting the X Games.
Not sure if Alaska is large enough (population wise) or wealthy enough to host the Olympics, but they may be a runer up.
Oslo could get 2022 for the same reasons Tokyo got 2020, they ran an Olympics before and that may be the deciding factor.
Oslo will never be able to match Sotchi when it comes to money spending and opening/ending ceremonies. Not sure if more spending is the future of the Olympics either.
But at least spectators during the events will be packed - everywhere.
To put it into perspective: It will be like a Bruce Springsteen concert in NJ - for two weeks straight..
does Anchorage have access to the needed vertical used in the Alpine venue Downhill run? I think I saw Sochi's was about 3,500 feet. The most prominant ski facility I looked up for Anchorage was unlikely to be able to achieve that number.
Well, since South Korea is hosting the 2018 games, maybe the NORTH could host the 2022 games. Of course, no media coverage would be allowed, and north Korea would win all the medals, but, think of the money it might bring in. The people of North Korea could actually get an extra 2 grains of rice !!!!
OK Seriously
What kind of terrain/skiing facilities does Poland have ?
