Does it matter, I mean here in the USA? How many Soccer stars can anyone not interested in the sport name? How many women here are missing their husbands because of Soccer season on TV? Even here in the Los Angeles Metro area where we do not have an NFL team, Most people seemed to fall away from World Cup when the USA lost. Football is king here in the United States. I don't see that changing anytime soon. Even when your team is not playing chances are you will be watching Football somewhere. Right now it is Friday night at the high school, Saturday for College, Sunday and Monday for the NFL. It is the best time of the year to be breathing. I love it and will be infront of a TV from now till the Superbowl.

I've seen this a lot online and it's annoying. I love both sports so I hate seeing the two sides argue. I consider calling association football "soccer" is accepted American terminology. Just like an elevator in the US is called a lift in the UK. It's just part of the differences in language. And hand egg just sounds stupid. I don't know any eggs that look like an American football.

Again.... I have played soccer since the moment I could walk
I could give a flying f..... what anybody calls it
In Italy is "Calcio", in Brazil is "Futebol' (pronounced Fushibol), in Germany is Fussball
those 3 countries that don't call it "Football" have won 13 out of the 20 World Cups that have been played.

Anybody that fights about a sport name is plain stupid.

Here's the deal. Nobody really cares. At least nobody cares who actually has important things to think about all day.

Soccer fans who really obsess over stuff like this are like the needy girlfriends of the sports world.

Exactly. If somebody from England calls it football to me, I know what he's talking about. And I really don't care.

You'd think people in America saying real football would mean American football because it's all macho and stuff.

And then they go smacking each other on the butt.
